Nha Trang is only a one hour flight from HCMC. A tourist friendly location, the infrastructure to and from the airport is well developed. The sidewalks near the beach allows for a perfect stroll or jog. If you are too afraid to learn how to ride a motorbike on the busy streets of HCMC like me, learn on the streets of Nha Trang while taking in the beautiful views and clean air. Many tourists usually jump out to the many islands dotting nearby Nha Trang, however due to limited time, we explored the beauties on the mainland.
On the beach there are local solicitors, but who can push them away when they are offering grilled lobsters? Our lobster lady, who we frequented during our time in Nha Trang, raised her kids by selling lobsters on the beach for 21 years. One of the nights we ran into her, she was out of lobsters, but no problem. She hails a xe om (motorcycle taxi) to fetch her more lobsters and 10 minutes later, lobsters magically appear at 2AM in the morning.
Highly recommend going to the local restaurants because the bigger restaurants were overpriced. The famous mud baths is a definite must and the Chong Rocks were a great place to take pictures. On the beach, Louisiane Brewhouse and the Sailing Club are the places to be seen in the day to layout and at night for drinks.
There are many hotels in Nha Trang. Depending on how long you stay, book a day or two at one hotel and check out other hotels around the area. We found out that hotels tend to be cheaper in person than the online bookings and you may find a gem out of the many.
Nha Trang will have more beautiful ladies visiting. Miss Universe Pageant has requested Nha Trang to host 2011, after successfully hosting the event in 2008.
