Cuc Gach Quan – The Architect’s House

Quan Ngon

Expats around the city simply refer to this place as the Architect’ s House. With its vintage and modern mix charm, the Architect’s House exudes a calm and cozy environment for diners to enjoy themselves as if it was their own home or they were invited to a friend’s house for dinner.

Not only is the interior striking with its unique touches of décor, the “countryside” food is traditional Vietnamese meals at its pure state. No preservatives or MSG are used. A one inch book contains the extensive menu (with Vietnamese and English translation) that the restaurant has to offer. Meals are to be shared family style with an option of white or red rice.

Hot crispy cubes of homemade tofu doused with lemongrass and chile.

Claypot Pork Belly with Eggs in a spicy caramelized sauce.

Fish stewed in clay pot. Pork and the fish clay pot are classic staples.

Grilled eggplant with scallion oil sauce. My favorite way eggplant is prepared!

Fruit beverages are freshly juiced and served with a side of honey. Instead of plastic straws, morning glory stems are used, and bottle stoppers are rolled up banana leaves.

Cuc Gach Quan is the perfect setting to have a memorable Vietnamese meal. Everyday classics are simply presented to highlight the ingredients of each dish. Go there early or make  a reservation to get a truly unique experience in Ho Chi Minh City.
