We took a short trip to Vancouver between our stay in Victoria to visit some wonderful friends! We were able to squeeze in a reservation at Nuba, a popular Lebanese cuisine eatery. With multiple casual dining (cafés) locations in Vancouver, the downtown location evokes a modern dining atmosphere that is perfect for a gathering with friends in a restaurant setting. Our group of six requested for the set dinner option, which allowed us to taste many dishes and the server guaranteed we wouldn’t go home hungry!
Nuba is dedicated to using fresh organic ingredients in all their dishes. Every dish was absolutely delicious and Nuba was exactly the type of meal Si and I were looking for our trip back. It’s hard to find really good Mediterranean cuisine in Ho Chi Minh City. The top four dishes I absolutely loved are below in the Bite this section. Each individual was served their choice of protein (vegetarian choices are also available), but the majority of our group chose the grilled prawns. From the corner left (clockwise): 1. Mjadra – Organic Green lentils with rice, topped with crispy onions. 2. Fattoush Salad & Pita Bread. 3. Najib’s Special – crispy cauliflower with lemon juice and sea salt. 4. Falafel – organic chickpeas, fava beans, vegies and spices. 5. Mixed olives, Macedonian Feta Cheese, and Cabbage – pickled with beet juice. 6. Vegan Stew- cubes of eggplant stewed with tomatoes, onions, and chickpeas.
The server was definitely right, we even had to box some leftovers home. With good company and exceptional food, the feeling was evident. It felt great to be back to our roots.
