As Da Nang is my friend’s hometown, she took us to many local eats around the area. She said that the must have eats in Da Nang are mi quang, bun cha ca, and seafood. The one place we didn’t get to go to for breakfast was because I got sick from all the amazing food we ate the night before. It wasn’t food poisoning, I just over did it . I wish we had the chance to eat at the restaurant, but the next best thing was personal delivery of bun cha ca to our hotel room!
Si took one slurp of noodles with a bite of fish cake (chả cá) and a spoonful of the soup. He said it was the best bowl of bun cha ca he has had in his five years in Vietnam. The broth was light with the melded flavors of fish cakes, bamboo shoots, and chunks of tender white fish.
Since our trip, Si has been on the lookout for a comparable bun cha ca restaurant in Saigon. He found one, right in our own neighborhood, called Bún Chả Cá Đà Nẵng.
Only slightly different to the bowl of noodles we had in Da Nang, Bún Chả Cá Đà Nẵng serves their noodle soup with freshly shredded cabbage instead of lettuce. The pickled shallots adds a sweet acidic bite. A bowl of this soupy goodness is only 25,000VND!
