On our first full day in Krabi, we explored the town by long-tail boat, motorbike, and on our own two feet. From a beautiful beach to a sacred site with a 360 degree view, we found gorgeous views high and low.
With clear shallow water and fine silky sand, the beach was perfect for swimming with gentle lapping waves. Railay wasn’t overcrowded so it felt like beach goers had a little part of Railay for themselves.
At the base of Tiger Cave Temple, 1237 steps to the top sound like nothing but a number. One third of the way to the top we were sweaty, out of breath, and our quads were burning. Halfway at there, I was ready to throw in the tower. But we trekked up the seemingly never ending incline. When we finally made it up the top after many rest stops along the way, we laid eyes on this impressive view. Heading back down the stairs was another feat in itself.
On the way back to Ao Nang, we stopped at a open air market to explore the local goodies. While making our round through the market, our eyes gravitated to the bright red strawberries this stand was selling.
Our 20 baht find, roughly 66 cents, was this refreshingly sweet strawberry slush made to order. It was reminiscent of a Dole strawberry fruit bar but 100x better. We were dehydrated from our 1237 step accomplishment, and the drink immediately quenched our fatigue. We still consider this the best drink we had while we were in Krabi.
When we returned from our adventures, our pool access room at Red Ginger Chic Resort was a welcoming sight. We couldn’t help but take a little dip to ease our weary legs.
We concluded the day strolling on the Ao Nang strip. Midway, we paused to drink in the vibrant Krabi sunset. Momentarily everything paused around us, except for the descending sun in the horizon.
